About Us...

A More "Personal" Kind of Club
Since the Club was founded in Atlanta, Georgia in 1987 there has been only one enduring concept, to promote friendships above all else for our members and guests, through our events and trips. And we have achieved this goal for both couples and singles throughout our 20 year history. Originally started as a singles social club, our success has generated so many couples that now we are officially a social and travel club for everyone, whether you're on your own or happily linked up. The club brings a little more "adventure" to everyone's lives. And making a few good friends along the way isn't bad either.

History
Our founder, John Youstin, moved to Atlanta as a single in 1982 and spent many a night in a partying frenzy of nightclub hopping. What he soon realized was that he was not having much success meeting people there and this seemed true for many others as well. For some it seemed to be a fine way to socialize, but he was not comfortable there, and found there were many others who felt the same way, disliking the pressure and potential rejection. He thought there must be a better way for people to meet. The idea was born to host events where people could meet casually, making friends while enjoying fun activities. First, John formed Club Esprit, an exclusive membership club which gained national notoriety as a CNN feature for an entire Labor Day weekend, plus there were articles on the AP wire, local Atlanta TV broadcasts, radio and more.

In time, this morphed into the Adventure Club, a more casual alternative to Club Esprit. John started it with a massive print advertising campaign, since there was no internet back then, and for a time we were one of the top 5 advertisers in Creative Loafing on a par with another familiar Atlanta organization, Coca Cola. We grew and thrived and became a popular item in print and the media. Always innovative, the Adventure Club was the first social organization in Atlanta to have it's own web page. Today the Adventure Club is still in the forefront of social clubs in Atlanta, and the one most frequently looked to for providing fresh, innovative concepts to the social scene. For example, the Adventure Club is the ONLY club to have its own customized recreational/social networking match system eMatch4. Our beach trips are a regular standout since we provide substantial beach side catering at all our Destin events, including our signature frozen drink machine for use at all our major events. With the marriage of John to Karen in 2000 (who met through the club and the match site) the club has found a valuable new friend to the membership. The Adventure Club remains one of few who has maintained its initial concept of low pressure casual meeting through a variety of more intimate organized fun events. And it works. Both couples and singles still see the club as a center for travel and events with their friends, as it was designed to be so long ago in 1987. Join us and see.

Future Goals
Our goals are simple...to continue as the leading edge of social interaction among singles and couples through fun innovative events and travel and our unique eMatch4 system... to create lifelong friends from strangers...to bring a little more enjoyment to the "adventure" of living. National and local expansion through a diverse set of programs is planned to bring more and varied travel and events of all kinds to our membership, our friends.
